Engagement sessions are some of my favorite as a Minneapolis wedding photographer (even in the freezing cold!). My first time meeting Christiaan and Nicole was at their winter engagement session this past February. They braved the frigid temps for their session at Hansen Tree Farm. Not kidding, probably one of the coldest days of the season! The farm was deserted and we had the whole place to ourselves (only we were crazy enough to be out there). But they were troopers and toughed it out for some beautiful snowy photos! 

Como Park Engagement Story

Christiaan and Nicole met in their first year of law school and Christiaan proposed last April at Como Park where they regularly go for walks. On a beautiful Saturday in April, Nicole’s two best friends asked her to go for a walk in the park which wasn’t something out of the ordinary. They decided to get some drinks on a patio nearby (the perfect excuse to get Nicole out of leggings). While they were on their walk, Nicole looks up and sees her then boyfriend walking EXTREMELY fast towards her. As she realizes what is happening, her friends step to the side and Christiaan gets down on one knee. Of course Nicole says, “Yes!” Her friends were ready with blankets and prosecco and they celebrated the engagement in the park! 

Minnesota Backyard Wedding Ceremony

These two cuties tied the knot just a few weeks later and were married in their backyard with their closest friends and family. Christiaan put in the patio himself! On the day of the wedding, Nicole got ready in their home office with a few of her friends. Christiaan made cocktails and coffee for everyone in the morning. On the patio, lights were strung, tables were set up and a taco bar was ordered from their favorite street food restaurant. It was the perfect day! They couldn’t wait to be married, but this Minneapolis photographer is so excited for their reception this October at the historic Van Dusen Mansion in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
